Timelines live in their own routeTo configure the timeline:
- Make a copy of the timeline template spreadsheet. This is where the data lives. Link to sheet
- Make the spreadsheet public as a csv, copy the provided url
- Go to the timeline.js store and replace the url located on line 12 in the url variable with the copied url of the publicly shared spreadsheet

Seven companies make up 55% of global cathode production, predominantly in China but also in Japan. Although likely outdated, a U.S. International Trade Commission report from 2019 ranked the world's top cathode producers: China (324,200 tons), Japan (168,900 tons) and South Korea (51,200 tons).

How we did it
The California Department of Justice, tasked with investigating all police shootings of unarmed citizens since July 1, 2021, keeps only a brief list of each case on its public website. To document these shootings, CalMatters reviewed the post-incident briefings provided by law enforcement where available, and searched coroner and medical examiner reports, news accounts, police review board findings and lawsuits filed after the shootings. CalMatters also requested “all relevant records” related to the shootings from each department. As of posting, most of the public records requests were denied or delayed, with departments citing the incomplete California Department of Justice investigations.
The Officer Involved Shooting briefings provided by police departments can be imperfect tools. The briefings are often highly curated reviews of select portions of the video, which critics allege are designed to make the people shot appear in the worst possible light and put the officer or officers’ actions in the best. The same can be true for videos edited and released by plaintiffs’ attorneys seeking damages.
